The Select Board has called a special town meeting Monday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m. at the Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School auditorium, 390 Lincoln Road. At last May’s town meeting, a warrant article was approved that changed the start time of town meetings from 7:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Nine articles will be voted on at the special town meeting. Two articles covering funding for replacement and repair of the roof systems at Haynes and Nixon elementary schools were the original reason for the meeting. Town departments have added six additional warrant articles, and there is also a citizens’ petition article. The warrant is available the Town website, and copies will be mailed to every household.

Sudbury has an “open” town meeting, which means that all Sudbury registered voters are eligible to vote. The deadline to register to vote before Town Meeting is Friday, Nov. 21; that deadline also applies to vote in the special town election on Tuesday, Dec. 16. Check your voter registration status and register to vote at www.VoteInMA.com

The League of Women Voters of Sudbury and the Goodnow Library will hold an in-person voter registration and information event on Tuesday, Nov. 18, from 2-4 p.m. at the Goodnow Library. Volunteers from the League will be available to assist qualified voters who wish to register, update their registration, or check their registration status.

You must be present at town meeting to vote. There is no remote or absentee voting.

Voter check-in is in the hallway as you enter the building. Votes are taken at Town Meeting using an electronic handheld clicker; see information on page iii of the warrant. You must check in to receive the clicker that will allow your vote to be recorded.

Information about accessibility and how to request accommodations for town meeting can be found on pages i and ii of the warrant.

Van transportation is available but must be reserved in advance. According to the warrant, “the Sudbury Connection van service, through the Sudbury Senior Center and MetroWest Regional Transit Authority (MWRTA), will provide free accessible transportation to and from the meetings. If you are a registered rider, please reserve a ride to Sudbury Town Meeting by Monday, November 24 by 4:00 PM by calling 508-820-4650. If you are not registered as a rider, please contact the Sudbury Senior Center to register at 978-443-3055 to complete an application by Monday, November 24 at 4:00 PM.”

For all other voters, parking is available in the high school parking lot. Enter the lot through the driveway on Lincoln Road east of the high school building. Handicapped parking spaces are available in the lot at the front of the school building and in the main parking lot.

For those with hearing or vision impairments, designated seating areas are available. According to the warrant, “closed captioning screens will be available. Those who wish to use their phone or device to view the captions may do so at https://sudbury.ma.us/townmeeting/captions . Assisted Listening services are available through the Audio Fetch app, available on iOS and Android devices.
