Committee Chairs:

Healthcare:  Julie Dereshinsky

For over a decade, the Health Care Committee has organized forums, often on the cutting edge of health issues, both to inform the public and encourage action. Examples of the issues addressed include health care laws in Massachusetts, mental health (including youth mental health), the criminal justice system, palliative care, Big Pharma, and most recently vaping. If healthcare is an area of interest, the committee would love to have you join!

Education:  Nell Forgacs

Civics Bee:  Jeanne Maloney and Bonnie Glass

Teams from four towns compete, answering questions about local, state, and national government.  The Civics Bee Committee works with the Wayland and Concord-Carlisle Leagues to run this annual event. We start planning in the fall and the Bee happens in the spring. There are lots of tasks for volunteers, some for 4 hours ranging up to a few hours a month. The kids have a blast and learn so much. Please join us for this fun way to teach our communities about the democratic process.

Voter Registration - Sue Stine

LWV of Sudbury has focused on registering young people to vote. We have hosted many voter registration/voter information events at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, both at our initiative, and at the request of students, as well as those at Framingham State University, in conjunction with National Voter Registration Day. This year we also hosted such an event at Longfellow Glen. LWV plans to continue and expand these events in the future.

Membership - Judy Merra and Karen Tafuri

Membership  committee gathers information and dues from each member.    We are happy  to answer questions about the League and its purpose and encourage new membership.  A separate duty is to keep State and National database up to date  so members will receive their notifications and updates from each League level.
