The League of Women Voters of Sudbury supports five articles on the Dec. 1 Special Town Meeting warrant, based on local, state and national LWV positions.
Â
The League urges Sudbury voters to attend Town Meeting and participate as citizen legislators. Special Town Meeting starts Monday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School. Note the earlier start time, based on a vote at May’s Town Meeting.Â
Â
League members voted to support these specific articles at the special Town Meeting: Articles 1 and 2, for roof replacement and repair at Haynes and Nixon elementary schools; and Articles 3, 4, and 5, to install solar energy generating facilities in the parking lots at Curtis Middle School, the police station, and Haskell Field.
Â
The League opposes Article 9, a citizens’ petition to dedicate 1% of property tax revenues for the next 10 years to a fund to build sidewalks. While the Sudbury League strongly supports the construction of walkways in town, it believes that should be done within normal budgeting processes.
Â
The League does not have positions that cover the other warrant articles so cannot take a stand on those articles.

The warrant for Special Town Meeting has been mailed to all households; it is also available here.
