Clerk Certifies Russo and Lederer-DeFrancesco for Ballot

The Town Clerk’s office certified Tuesday the nomination papers of Charles G. Russo, who is running for Select Board, and Ellen Lederer-DeFrancesco, who is running for Sudbury School Committee. Russo and Lederer-DeFrancesco are now official candidates whose names will appear on the ballot, bringing the total number of candidates whose names will appear on the ballot to nine.

With less than one week until the Feb. 9 deadline to submit papers, prospective candidates for Planning Board and Park and Recreation Commissioner have not yet returned their nomination papers.

There are 11 open positions on this year’s Annual Town Election ballot. Any Sudbury registered voter may run for office. Prospective candidates do not need permission from a board or committee to run.

To appear on the ballot, prospective candidates must file an intention to run, gather the signatures of at least 50 registered Sudbury voters on a set of nomination papers, return those signatures by the Feb. 9 deadline, and the Town Clerk’s office must certify those signatures.

According to the Town Clerk’s office, prospective candidates must file their intention to run by 5 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 5. Nomination papers (“signatures”) must be returned by 5 p.m., Monday, Feb. 9.
