Russo Returns Papers

Charles G. Russo, who is running for re-election to the Select Board, returned his nomination papers to the Town Clerk’s office early Monday. That office said it expects to certify the signatures Tuesday.

With one week to go until the Feb. 9 deadline to submit papers, prospective candidates for Planning Board, Park and Recreation Commissioner and one Sudbury School Committee seat have not yet returned their nomination papers.

There are 11 open positions on this year’s Annual Town Election ballot. Any Sudbury registered voter may run for office. Prospective candidates do not need permission from a board or committee to run.

To appear on the ballot, prospective candidates must file an intention to run, gather the signatures of at least 50 registered Sudbury voters on a set of nomination papers, return those signatures by the Feb. 9 deadline, and the Town Clerk’s office must certify those signatures.

According to the Town Clerk’s office, the period for prospective candidates to file their intention to run is from Tuesday, Jan. 6 to Thursday, Feb. 5. Nomination papers (“signatures”) must be returned by Monday, Feb. 9.
