What are your two or three top priorities for your term as Water District commissioner?
What changes, if any, would you make to the Water District’s operations?
To control PFAS (“forever chemicals”) contamination, the Water District has completed a PFAS removal facility at one well, has started construction on a removal facility at a second well, and has design plans for removal facilities at two additional wells. How serious is Sudbury’s PFAS problem and are any additional steps necessary?
The Boston Globe recently reported that PFAS found in the sludge fertilizer used by some farms is contaminating groundwater. Should Sudbury be concerned?
The district recently completed an inventory of existing service lines to identify lead pipes from the street to homes. How extensive is the problem in Sudbury? Will the district - or customers - be responsible for replacing those lead pipes?
Do you expect summertime outdoor watering bans to continue to become more restrictive because of climate change? Should the Water District educate residents on landscaping that uses less water?
Outdoor Water Restrictions follow up
Private irrigation wells draw from the same aquifer that the Water District uses. Should owners of private irrigation wells also be subject to outdoor watering restrictions? Should Sudbury continue to permit such wells?
In February, the water district increased rates 6.5%. Is the rate structure for Sudbury water in line with neighboring towns? Do you foresee anything that would cause a dramatic future increase in water rates?

Moderator follow up: Why should the rate structure stay where it is or why it shouldn’t? Make a case for it.
Should Sudbury consider joining the MWRA (Massachusetts Water Resources Authority) for its water supply? What are the pros and cons of such a move?
Should the Sudbury Water District continue to add fluoride to the town’s water supply? Why or why not?

What impacts, if any, will the water district experience due to recent changes in federal policy, and how should the water district respond? Will there be any changes to funding sources for upcoming projects or to the cost of materials used by the district?
Should the Water District become part of town government as a division of the Department of Public Works? Why or why not?
Should the Water District hold its annual election on the same date and at the same polling place as the annual town election? Why or why not?
Should Water District meetings be recorded by SudburyTV and available to the public for viewing?
Does the proximity of the fire-fighting academy present any contamination issues for the Town’s water supply?
