Apply Now for a Mail Ballot for the Sept. 1 Primary Election

The state primary election is Tuesday, Sept. 1. Voters will select candidates for the November general election for Governor and Lieutenant Governor, U. S. Senator, state legislators and more. A full list of offices on the ballot is on the Town Clerk’s website.

Postcard applications for mail ballots have been sent to voters by the Secretary of the Commonwealth. Those applications can be used to request a mail ballot for the primary, for the general election Nov. 3, or for all elections in 2026. If you already requested a mail ballot for “all elections” before the town’s election in the spring, you do not need to fill out an application again; your mail ballot will be sent to you automatically.

The last day to request a mail ballot is 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, according to the Town Clerk’s website.

Note that, if you are requesting a mail ballot for the Sept. 1 primary election and are unenrolled in a political party, you must specify if you want a Democratic or Republican primary ballot.

The last day to register to vote in the primary election is 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22. You can register at the Town Clerk’s office, 322 Concord Rd., or online at www.VoteInMA.com. You can also use that website to check your registration status or update your registration information.

There will be both early and Election Day in-person voting for the primary election.

On Election Day Sept. 1, voters in all six Sudbury precincts can vote at the Fairbank Community Center, 40 Fairbank Rd., from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. 

Early voting for all precincts will take place in lower Town Hall, 322 Concord Rd. Hours for early voting are:

Saturday, Aug. 22	9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Monday, Aug. 24	9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Tuesday, Aug. 25	9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Wednesday, Aug. 26	9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Thursday, Aug. 27	9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
